Just imagine the possibility of your child being one of the estimated 132 million orphans in the world (UNICEF - 2008).
UNICEF defines an “orphan” as a child who has lost one or both parents. Therefore, of the 132 million children they classify as orphans, only 13 million have lost both parents.
This means that there are anywhere from two to five million orphans in orphanages and homes worldwide
We are so advanced in technology, science and industry that we lose sight of the basic fundamental needs of children. Due to imbalances in our world, so many children are left without the care and love of their parents. Poverty, disease, natural disasters and war are just some of the reasons why they
need our help.
It is important that we focus on supporting not only individual children but also the families and communities that care for orphans and are in need of support.
